End of summer drought

End of summer drought

Beech trees completely defoliated, at end of September

Drought, October 2016

The lack of rai at the end dramatically showed its effects.
Beech trees along the thinner ridges are completely defoliated. Fruit bearing plants, like these hawthorn shrubs,  try to carry them to ripeness: leaves are all gone.
Mushroom pickers remain with empty baskets.
Hiking is on dry soil and into dust. One year ago I was walking into mud.
