The Cinque Terre by train

The train service running along the Ligurian east coast allows plenty of possibilities, among the visit to all the Cinque Terre village is a classic. Starting early enough in the morning we can plan a train hopping, stopping at each village and having a walk in each of them: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, Monterosso. It is a complete, although fast taste of the Cinque Terre villages, with sightseeing of strategic points, in each village; an ideal f program for a first glance at the Cinque Terre, in case you have never been there yet, and if you do not have time enough to stay longer.  But be aware: doing the five villages in one day can be demanding.

Meeting point: one of the Cinque Terre villages, or La Spezia.

Duration: full day.

Effort: walking effort is moderate, but the day as a whole is intensive.

Difficulties: no technical difficulties; stretches of steep lanes and stairways.

Period: year round.

Additional info
Meal can be consumed in one of the villages. A boat service runs from April to October and may allow to finish the day with a final boat hopping. It is possible to skip Corniglia, where the railway station is a bit farther from the town. If you prefer, it is possible to divide the tour in two days: in this case, I suggest to include also Levanto in the program.
