Pollen on the sea

Pollen on the sea, and other spring signals

April 12, 2026

The pollen

Counting time in springs.  That was the beginning of a post from a few years ago. Today I took a walk, and I must say, it was an adequate beginning. Every missed opportunity is gone forever, better to look around. Another spring has arrived and is showing its signs. The doubt that something negative had happened in the sea; from above, a kind of yellowish foam, in the sea of Corniglia.

It was the tree heathers

A few days ago, the tree heathers were in full bloom. Their pollen was everywhere, as those who suffer from allergies know all too well. All this pollen went somewhere, including into the sea. The game of currents and undertow arranged it like this, as could be seen today.

Once you see one sign, others follow.

Other spring signals

A lizard that had made its den in a rusty pipe, now coming out with the warmth of spring.

A brood of tiny spiders, first all clustered together, then, within a few hours, already ready to disperse.

I wonder, sometimes I ask myself if the people who spend their lives closed in the rooms of power without looking around, could do less damage, with a little immersion in these things.
