Hop hornbeam: a summer 2016 post

This year hop hornbeams are loaded with fruits. Now that they are ripe, forests where hop hornbeams  are abundant seem to suffer for drought. In Italian language these years of abundant forest tree fruit production are called years of “pasciona” (mast years). Originally, the term was limited to fruits eaten by animals, such as acorns, but was then extended to all other forest plants.
This spring there has also been a late frost, that dried beech leaves, just sprouted at its occurrence; and it somewhat also struck blueberries: fruit harvest is scarce this year.
Things that can be seen in nature. To the next  !
