The vineyards of Volastra, from Manarola to Corniglia

This is a real classic, not to be missed, but to be carefully planned. Superb sights from high above the sea, among vineyards. The historical villages of Manarola, Volastra and Corniglia. The itinerary starts with the ascent to Volastra along historical lanes. Then we cross, almost flat, the magnificent mountain side plunging into the sea, coated with among the most spectacular terraced vineyards. finally, we descend to Corniglia. among Mediterranean bush. You can then take a train to your favourite destination.

Meeting point: Manarola (railway station, or other place), or La Spezia or any other centre of the Cinque Terre or surroundings, along the railway line. meeting points easily reachable by public transportation.

Duration: about 4v hours: it can be done in half a day, if you are medium walkers.

Effort: moderate, but already requiring some walking habitude; s

Difficulties: no substantial technical difficulties; steep stretches, both uphill and downhill, sometimes slippery; some narrow steps.

Period: year round; best period is at grape harvest, in the second half of September, that is however still full touristic period, when path can be crowded; I suggest early morning; in full summer it can be hot, especially in the afternoon.

Additional info:  a wine tasting can be booked. The itinerary can be done also in the opposite direction.
