From Lavagna to Sestri Levante

This is an easy and very beautiful crossing. It can be a part of a longer itinerary, or a one day hike, returning by train. We start from Lavagna, a town with a small but interesting historical centre. From the outskirts of the town we gently ascend along ancient cobbled lanes, among olive groves and vegetable gardens, with views of the sea and the inland mountains. We reach the church of Santa Giulia, where we make a short panoramic loop. We continue descending across olive groves, to Cavi Borgo, from where we ascend again to the ruins of the church of S. Anna delle Rocche, then descending back to Sestri, along another scenic path.

From Lavagna to Sestri Levante

Meeting point: Lavagna or Sestri Levante, place to be agreed.

Duration: 5-6 hours, depending on the pace. For a relaxed hiking, a packed lunch is necessary.

Effort: easy, for everydody with a minimum habitude to walk.

Difficulties: some limited possibilities of slippery stretches with wet ground.

Period: year round.

Additional info
This itinerary can be also done in the opposite direction; however, it is a bit more tiring and, in my opinion, somewhat less panoramic.
It is also possible to have lunch in a local restaurant of Cavi di Lavagna, if preferred with respect to packed lunch.
